Nostr Is The Network That You Can Imagine.
A decentralized global network for censorship-resistant.
Get started at Nostr, converter your npub or nsec key in a Hexadecimal key
In Nostr, the keys are your identity. To send notes is necessary to be able to sign them. With this signature, the network knows that you are the owner of that message and «allows» you to send it, but it also knows which messages are for you.
In many places where it’s explained how Nostr works, you will see the example that says that you can think of your public key (npub) as your user and your private key (nsec) as the password to access that user.
The keys come in two formats, hexadecimal and in a human-readable denominated: npub/nsec.
Some tools allow you to convert from one format to another, such as our key-converter (be aware that if you enter your private key in any web client, that key could be leaked to third parties).
From a privacy point of view, the best way to obtain a key is to mine it.
You can mine your keys using Rana. In its repository, you will be able to see the instructions to use it.
If you’re looking for something less complicated, you can use Alby or nos2x to generate your keys.
There are also some mobile clients, such as Nostros, Amethyst and Damus, which are a bit more secure as they store the keys securely locally. In other words, they do not filter them to the Internet.
