Nostr Is The Network That You Can Imagine.
A decentralized global network for censorship-resistant.
What is Nostr?
Nostr It’s a simple, light, open and resilient protocol that seeks to solve the problem of censorship, creating a social network open to all.

Understand
Nostr It’s a simple, lightweight, open and resilient protocol that seeks to solve the problem of censorship, creating a social network open to all.
Nostr stands for Notes and Other Things Transmitted by Relays.
In Nostr, communication occurs between clients and servers (called relays). Each user uses a client to connect to several relays with which it exchanges messages.
It means that each user runs a client. Anyone can run a relay.
How a user it’s identified in Nostr is through a pair of keys. A private key, with which the user can sign messages, and a public key with which others can find him on the net.
There are no unique passwords or usernames. Creating a new identity is very simple and is done using Schnorr signatures.
Create
In Nostr, the keys are your identity. To send messages it is necessary to be able to sign them, with this signature the network knows that you are the owner of that message and allows you to send it, but it also knows which messages are for you.
In many places where it’s explained how Nostr works, you will see the example that says that you can think of your public key (npub) as your user and your private key (nsec) as the password to access that user.
The keys come in two formats, hexadecimal and in a human-readable denominated: npub/nsec.
Some tools allow you to convert from one format to another, such as Key-Convertror Damus key (be aware that if you enter your private key in any web client, that key could be leaked to third parties).
The best way, from a privacy point of view, to obtain a key is to mine it.
You can mine your keys using Rana. In its repository, you will be able to see the instructions to use it.
If you’re looking for something less complicated, you can use Alby or nos2x to generate your keys.
There are also some mobile clients, such as Nostros, Amethyst and Damus, which are a bit more secure as they store the keys securely locally. In other words, they do not filter them to the Internet.
